Leaders in Training
The Leaders in Training (LIT) Program, offered by the City of North Miami, is a unique opportunity for high school students who are interested in public service to gain valuable skills and knowledge that will prepare them for a successful career in their chosen field. Through a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes higher education preparation, career readiness, and an enhanced understanding of local civic processes, participants in the LIT Program will receive the tools they need to become leaders in their community.
The LIT Program acts as a pipeline and prerequisite for North Miami residents in grades 9 through 12 who aim to join the city’s Summer Internship Program. Through the program’s hands-on professional leadership training, students acquire critical soft skills necessary for success in any profession, including effective communication, time management, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Throughout the program, students participate in a range of engaging and informative activities that foster their leadership potential. These activities involve interacting with local leaders and learning about ways to contribute to the community’s growth and prosperity.
By participating in the LIT Program, students not only gain valuable skills and knowledge, but they also get to establish connections with other young leaders in their community. This opportunity enables them to collaborate on projects that benefit the city, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
